TRANSFORMATIONAL HEALTH PROGRAM
What
do all chronic health issues have in common?
STRESS

Even if you are in perfect health and "on top of your
game", stress is still a factor in your health. Stress cannot be avoided, it is
a part of life. Stress in and of itself is not the issue, but how we respond to
stress on a functional level that counts.
First, let's define stress as used here. "Stress is
any influence, internal or external, that causes or leads to malfunction"
(Reed Davis, founder of FDN). So let's look at this a little more closely.
EXTERNAL STRESS: external life and
environmental stressors
·
Mental / emotional ~ fear, excitement, worry, anxiety, etc.
·
Physical ~ fractures, muscle injuries, nerve compression,
radiation, electromagnetic fields etc.
·
Existential Angst ~ lack of purpose or meaning in life
INTERNAL
STRESS: hidden internal - inflammatory, pathological
·
Poor body chemistry, poor energy production and energy
distribution, blood sugar problems, inflammatory foods, food sensitivities, etc.
·
Parasites, bacteria, fungi and viruses.
·
Pesticides, herbicides, toxic chemicals, metals, alcohol, drugs
(medicine and recreational)
·
Dysfunctions / weaknesses / imbalances in any one of the body's
11- Fundamental Homeostatic Control Systems
It is the constant effort of the human body to maintain
balance, or Homeostasis. Homeostasis (from Greek: "similar") defined by Claude
Bernard in 1865; "the property of a system that regulates its own
internal environment to maintain in a stable condition". Under stress,
injury, or sickness, the body will do everything it can to maintain homeostasis
by "adapting" as necessary. Unfortunately if this goes on for too long, as with
chronic stress, dysfunction begins to occur and eventually will turn into a full
blow pathology (diagnosable degenerative disease) if not corrected. "The
ever present question of whether health maintains or disease ensues is one of
adaption vs. failure to adapt" (William Wolcott, founder Metabolic
Typing®). Each person has their genetic potential for adaption to accumulated
stressors. Whenever the cumulative stress load becomes greater than the capacity
to resolve the stress, dis-ease results, eventually becoming disease if
left to its course.
Most of the time we are not even aware of this process
going on. Initially, chronic stress may actually feel pretty good, in fact
great. This is due to the nature of the stress hormones. Over time we may
present as simply feeling run down in the afternoon, or not sleeping well, or
any number of subtle issues that are often regard as "normal" and may even
resolve on their own if the conditions become favorable. More often than not
however people begin relying on things like coffee, sweets, or vitamins to get
the energy they need to get thru the day. This is the beginning of a cascade of
deficiencies leading to further imbalances.
One last important point about stress; the body does
not differentiate between good stress (Eustress: a stress that
feels good, gives one a feeling of fulfillment or other positive feelings) or
distress (bad stress such as a divorce, loss of a loved one etc.).
The body reacts to all stress the same by releasing stress hormones and
neurotransmitters to deal with it. These responses affect every aspect of our
physiology and left unchecked are responsible for a cascade of events setting
the stage for chronic disease and poor health. It is not uncommon for a person
to become "addicted" to the stress hormones. This often presents a challenge for
recovering good health.

Consider the bicycle wheel. In order to function properly
each spoke needs to be correctly adjusted in relation to each other. If one or
two spokes are loose or broken it is going to throw the balance of the entire
wheel off. If numerous spokes are broken or loose the wheel may not function at
all.
As you can see from the chart here, the ratio of Cortisol
to DHEA in the body regulate just about every aspect of our physiology. When
Cortisol, our prime stress hormone becomes out of balance with its counter
regulator, DHEA, virtually any health imbalance may arise.
Initially
there may be no symptoms at all, or possibly vague symptoms like awaking tired
in the morning , running out of energy in the afternoon, not sleeping well at
night, or changes in body weight. Virtually all symptoms indicate an imbalance
in one or more of the body's fundamental control system/s.
Treating the symptoms and not identifying and correcting the causal level will
only perpetuate the condition as the body attempts to compensate for the
imbalance/s.
This brings us to the question of "what can we do"?
For starters, ask yourself these simple questions; How do
I feel right now? Does my life feel in Balance? Do I feel great, with abundant
energy? Do I feel healthy? Do I have any health complaints? Do I rely on herbs
or medications to feel well? Do I rely on stimulants (including high glucose
foods) to get me through the day? Do I have a healthy diet? Am I able to rebound
from emotional or physical challenges quickly?
The important thing to consider here is; if you are not
living at the level you want, not feeling as well as you should, etc. you cannot
change this by continuing with the choices and patterns that got you where you
are today. That simple. Often we cannot make the necessary changes on our own
and require some support.
The TRANSFORMATIONAL HEALTH PROGRAM is a holistic,
individualized, approach to optimal health and is suitable for anyone regardless
if they wish to maintain / improved their existing good health or someone with
pre-existing chronic health challenges that wants to get to the root cause of
their issues instead of chasing / masking the symptoms. It doesn't matter if
the issue is excess weight, arthritis, insomnia, high cholesterol, hypertension,
or any other condition. All these conditions have something in common, they all
involve imbalance in one or more of the body's Fundamental Homeostatic Control
System/s causing stress to the body and thus should be approached on that level
to be effectively addressed. The standard medical approach is to focus on "the
disease that has the person instead of the person that has the disease" and
does not address the fundamental imbalances at the root of the problem, or the
causal level. Western Medicine's focus in on identifying pathology and treating
symptoms is more a reactive approach than pro-active. In contrast, Functional
Medicine and Functional Nutrition seek to address these issues at the core and
causative level acting on a pro-active approach, usually before symptoms even
begin to appear.

The
Transformational Health Program takes a multi-faceted, individual
approach using Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) ™ and
Metabolic Typing (MT)® to seek clues to
malfunctions at the subclinical level (blocking factors to health) and balance the body with proper diet and
nutrition specific to the individuals genetic requirements.
Metabolic Typing (MT)®
and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) ™ begin with the premise that the body
is designed to be perfect, that every one of the 100 trillion cells that
comprise it knows - has the genetic blueprint - of exactly what to do and how to
do it perfectly. But in order for good health to manifest one must accomplish
two things unfailingly: 1) doing all the right things that support the body, and
2) stopping all of the wrong things that inhibit the body from proper function
and keep the body in a state of dis-ease. (adapted from William Wolcott, founder
Metabolic Typing®)
What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition ™?
·
FDN is an emerging field that bridges the gap between clinical
nutrition and functional medicine.
·
FDN is a type of detective work that seeks to identify and correct
the underlying causes and conditions that lead to the patient's health
complaints.
·
FDN is not diagnosing or treating any disease nor
practicing medicine.
·
FDN uses lab testing to identify malfunctions at the
subclinical level within the hormone, immune, digestion, detoxification and
mucosal barrier system.
·
Drugless protocols target the restoration of normal function and a
return to optimum health by supporting the body's innate healing ability and by
identifying and eliminating blocking factors including; environmental,
lifestyle, antigenic, inflammatory and pathogenic stressors.
·
FDN practitioners provide a nutritional interpretation of the
clinical data to be used exclusively by the client as an educational tool for
personal health purposes.
FDN may be
thought of as a Stress Detective
·
Identify Internal Hidden Stressors by Looking at Function
o
Hormone, Immune, Digestion, Detoxification & Mucosal Barrier
System
·
Use appropriate lab testing for
o
Reactive Foods that are inflammatory, irritating, allergic
o
Infection and infestation: parasites, bacteria, fungi, disease
(H-Pylori, Celiac)
FDN helps identify hidden
stressors to your health complaints and restore normal function.
What is Metabolic Typing®?
(click on heading for more information)
Metabolic Typing® is a systematic, testable, repeatable,
and verifiable approach that can take people from wherever they are on the spectrum of
health vs. disease and move them toward a state of optimal health - the natural
expression of their genetic potential within their metabolic design limit. It
may rightfully be said that Metabolic Typing® is the science of optimal health.
All of the 100's of thousands of biochemical reactions that occur daily fall
under the regulation of just a handful of Fundamental Homeostatic Controls - the
very elements used in MT to define metabolic individuality and determine
appropriate customized protocols. All symptoms and degenerative conditions
involve imbalances in one or more of those Fundamental Homeostatic Control's.
Correct those imbalances and you remove the causal factors of disease. (
Core Premises- The HealthExcel System of Metabolic Typing)
In terms of hidden internal stressors, a non-
Metabolic Type Diet® is a major stressor.
Failure to eat the proper Metabolic Diet® is a major
stressor (that is easily corrected)
·
Causes deficient or aberrant energy production at the cellular
level, unbalances the autonomic nervous system.
·
Leads to cellular, tissue, organ / glandular, and systemic
inefficiency.
·
"Inefficiency cascade" stresses digestion, detoxification, and
immune function.
·
Places undo demand upon the adrenal glands to maintain energy and
blood sugar levels.
The
Transformational Health Program is not:
·
Just another diet, or something to "try".
·
Another "Fad" diet.
·
A short term program (though you may only need our help short
term).
·
A one-size-fits-all program
·
dieting , counting calories, points to track
The
Transformational Health Program is relatively simple in its application but
requires a high degree of commitment and dedication, especially during the first
few weeks on the program to obtain the desired results. The program provides a
clear step-by-step process that includes support each step of the way. Each step
taken points the way to the next step as needed. It is the most individualized
nutritional program available anywhere whereas each succeeding step is based on
the individuals unique metabolic requirements. You will learn to interpret your
own body language which clearly verifies your progress or when and where changes
are required.

What exactly is involved in the
Transformational Health Program?
Due to the
personal and individual nature of this program, a free 20 minute phone or
personal consultation is provided to help determine how or if this program may
help you and address any specific concerns or questions you may have.
Next, a series
of very in-depth health questionnaires will be administered to determine:
